Help Us Preserve Historic Shelby, Texas From CenterPoint Energy’s MASSIVE Power Lines

Saveshistoricshelby.com is a website designed to inform others on the recent activities taking place in the historic town of Shelby, Texas.  Action must be taken to STOP the MASSIVE power lines from ruining historic Shelby.

Please click here to see how you can help.

On April 25, 2011 CenterPoint Energy mailed letters to area property owners outlining their intentions to construct a new 345 kV double circuit transmission line from LCRA’s Fayetteville Substation to CenterPoint Energy’s Zenith Substation in West Harris County.

CenterPoint Energy is moving fast and with very little notice.

Click here to read the notice CenterPoint sent to property owners along the proposed power line routes and here to see the proposed routes.

We are shocked that CenterPoint Energy believed that giving two week’s notice for a public meeting was ample notice for a project that would destroy over 150 years of history in Shelby, Texas.

We believe that CenterPoint Energy failed to conduct proper due diligence related to the historical significance, scenic beauty and environmental concerns specific to the Shelby area.
